Many Selves, Many Species:

A Middle School Poetry Workshop

In this 80-minute interactive poetry workshop inspired by the Abidjan Zoo Series from RADIANT WOUND, students explore themes of identity, belonging, and survival through animal poetry.

The session includes engaging icebreakers, a mini-lesson on literary devices, and two main poetry activities featuring "Ode to the Cockroach" and "Elephant Memory".

Through guided writing prompts and sharing circles, students create their own anti-odes and animal self-portraits, culminating in an opportunity to share their work at a poetry reading. Perfect for young writers interested in discovering how animal perspectives can illuminate our own journeys of self-discovery.
